The Concept

How does the concept work?

The basis is the simplified Danish marriage law in combination with the European law, which enables every citizen of an EU-country to get married in any member state of the EU, in Denmark you do not require the 'Ehefähigkeitszeugnis'. (certificate of non-marital impediment)

In Denmark you simply require the following documents:

  • Passport or national ID
  • Birth certificate
  • Certificate on your Family status; for those registered in Germany the Residence Certificate contains a reference to your Family status.
  • Divorce certificate, if applicable

The above documents must be presented either in Danish, English or German language. The documents have to be translated by an accredited translator in one of the already mentioned languages. With the exception of the divorce certificate, which is from a non-EU country, no translation is needed, we need just a copy in the issued language, the original copy should be submitted to the registry office upon arrival. The wedding ceremony will be held either in German, Danish or English. Besides these Languages you need to engage an accredited personal translator.
